Jerrold : Drive to Yoho National Park through Calgary and Canmore. Miss the stampede in Calgary. Pickup groceries and booze, and checkout real estate in Canmore. What a great place to live in the mountains, but expensive resort like real estate only 1/2hr outside Calgary.
We drive the 13km switchback road to Takkakaw Falls - what an awesome sight! A massive amount of water pouring over the mountain. And incredible camping too! It's so beautiful with glacial river and waterfalls and mountains all around. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever camped at - and only slightly off the beaten track - the road leaves the RVs and trailers behind, and the 400m walk-in deters all the lazy couch potatoes.
Met Yat Kowfu + family + Azelia late at night.
Abbie : It's kind of scary that Jerrold wants to move out here! Although I was elated to pay ONLY 6% tax on my purchases in Alberta! The real estate is very expensive! Canmore was outrageuously priced. Strathmore(1 hr east of Calgary) might be worth looking up. And they are hiring everywhere! Perhaps I can find a $20/ hr job at the grocery store. =)
In Yoho NP, we had some steep switchbacks and Jerrold thought our minivan can go up them just like in Tokyo Drift... The minivan started making some funny sounds after a very sharp turn... I was freaking, thinking we'll never make it back down or something! (especially if you know that Jerrold spent 2 weeks just fixing the brakes before we left T.O)... Anyway, it turned out the power steering fluid was boiling over from the stress of the switchbacks. Plymouth Voyageurs(esp 10 yr old ones) were not made for the Rockies!
