July 16, 2011 - drive, drive, drive...

Nebraska is incredibly HOT. and HUMID! kids throw a fit when I open the windows to allow them to "acclimatize" ;)
The Eisenhower interstate is perfectly straight for miles and miles on end. it helps that there are rumble strips and the posted speed limit is 75 mph.
passing a tank in Nebraska

car is averaging 10.5 L/100km (22 mpg) - not too bad.
filling up with premium gas is about $63/tank. Gas in the states is at least 30% cheaper than Canada. less than $1/L even for premium!

Enter Colorado at about 6pm MT (gained another hour!)

Colorado red-neck-mobile

Tried to buy pizza for dinner at Papa Murphy's in Sterling, CO. didn't understand the whole "take and bake" concept. Abbie gave the vendor a blank stare when he wrapped the raw pizza for us. Christian couldn't believe that the place didn't have an oven?! so strange....

Make it into to Denver at about 10:30 - enough time to drink two PBRs before the moonlight classic ride! What an awesomely fun ride through downtown Denver! (can't believe there are about 5000 registered riders for this craziness!) finish the ride around 2am and have a few more beers before bed at 3:30am.
Me getting ready to ride behind the "BOOM-box" complete with disco ball and Knight Rider lights.
